Travis Lawyer felt a call to missions many years ago as a teenager, but it wasn’t until recently after years of marriage and three beautiful children, that the door opened for him and his family to do full time missions.
Travis and his family went on cruises for family vacations, spending a lot of time visiting islands in the Caribbean. As always they did excursions on shore at each port, but one day when they were stopped at Roatan, Honduras they decided to create their own adventure and walk the island. Travis’ first impression of Honduras was that it was hot, smelly, and dangerous.
His family returned home as usual but his wife, who had never been comfortable with the idea of missions, told Travis that she thought Honduras was the place for missions they had been looking for. He didn’t believe it. Travis decided to visit Honduras on his own and now after numerous trips and God bringing opportunities his way, Freedom Missions has come to life.
